THE GREAT WORK - DVD series

The Mystery Schools, Initiations, Myths

Los Angeles

11/07/08

The Great Work is produced by Chance Gardner and Vanese McNeill, two very talented filmmakers who also did "Magical Egypt".

The Great Work is a balanced look at the Mystery Schools and the process of Initiation as practiced in many different traditions.

My own Wisdom teacher Georgia Lambert also appears in this work. She's brilliant and very scientifically astute, as well as a treasure trove of information on comparative mysticism.

Though I do not agree with absolutely everything everyone says in this piece, I do acknowledge the value of each person's participation and think that what they offer may well be the perfect path for your own further exploration.

And if you know of others who might like this information, please do send it on.

Judith Claire and Frank Wiegers have a new blog and a new book on the way. TOP GUN LOVE offers Love, Sex and Relationship counseling.

TOP GUN LOVE was featured in Joyce Schwarz's new book on VISION BOARDS. Judith and Frank created a "Vision Board" that you can see on their website below.

Judith has been my friend and career coach for over twenty years and I've always found her to be encouraging, insightful, and of the greatest integrity. Frank is a former fighter pilot, licensed relationship coach, and an accomplished sportsman with three impressive degrees. Plus he's Judith's husband and a great guy.

Whether you're looking for information on a specific topic, insights into your own relationships, or just some inspiration about love, sex, and relationship, check out their website http://topgunlove.wordpress.com/

Fitting In Is OVERRATED

Len Felder's new book -- The Survival Guide for Anyone Who Has Ever Felt Like an Outsider

bookstores everywhere

10/14/08

This book is valuable for:
--the creative person who needs a boost
--the unique and different family member
--the compassionate person who’s dealing with sharks or cliques
--the innovative person whose good ideas get overlooked or pushed aside too often
--the rebellious one who has gifts to express
--the sensitive and remarkable individuals you are teaching or mentoring
--your own vulnerable self.

It has a number of surprising stories of famous and not-so-famous people who were viewed as an outsider at one point in their lives, but they found a way to get their creative or innovative ideas taken seriously and they made a huge impact on some portion of the world. The vulnerable people whose inspiring triumphs are described in the book are:

--director Ang Lee whose father was devastated when this future film director
rebelled against the highly-conventional life Lee’s dad had hoped for him,
--“community organizer” Betty Friedan who was at first an outsider at Central High in Peoria for being too bookish, too serious, and not compliant enough,
--singer/songwriter Macy Gray, who was extremely shy and awkward until she found the courage to write about “I try to say goodbye and I choke, try to walk away and I stumble,”
--environmentalist Andy Lipkis, who was an outsider until he found ways to
empower thousands of “Citizen Foresters” to plant millions of trees to cut into urban
smog,
--Alex Haley who spent many years trying to understand his family’s “roots” and was told repeatedly that no one but his own race would care about his research,
--a therapy client and fashion designer who got tired of resenting her own body-type and began developing innovative clothes for women who aren’t rail thin,
--another therapy client who could see her sensitive daughter was getting excluded socially at school, so the mom began to explore how to help a child who is “different,”
--Plus many other bold visionaries, trouble-makers and innovators (in science, the arts, the healing professions, parenting, teaching, and many other fields) who were unable to fit in with the bland majority but who discovered exactly how to find the right allies, strategies, and resilience techniques to shake things up eventually.

Although each of the personal stories in the book are thought-provoking and helpful, FITTING IN IS OVERRATED is more than a bunch of inspiring short vignettes. In each chapter, there are specific strategies, skills, comeback lines, self-soothing methods, spiritual insights, and bridge-building techniques so that the reader can become more adept at getting heard and gaining clout even in families, groups, workplaces, and cliquish organizations that formerly only listened to the entrenched loyal insiders.

Many diverse experts are calling this the best book on how to become more effective in dealing with any group or organization that is snobby, cliquish, or stuck in its old ways, plus how to make sure you don’t sell out on your creativity and your integrity along the way.

Join the Winners!

Linda Seger's newest screenwriting book

in bookstores and online

01/31/2008

Everybody wins who reads Linda Seger's latest book: AND THE BEST SCREENPLAY AWARD GOES TO… And if you apply the insights and practical information in her book, your audiences will win, too, because you'll be using storytelling tools both profoundly basic and amazingly effective.

Exploring Structure and Story Development, Theme, and Character through the lens of three Oscar-winning films, Seger analyzes the inherent challenges involved, how the writers approach them, why these approaches work, and how you can apply them in your own stories.

Seger's clear eye for the process of writing helps you better understand how to craft your own artistic ideas into winning stories.

Though familiar with all three films, I found new perspectives on Linda's pages, and got many "aha's!" and useful suggestions as I read through her smart and lively look at the crafting of these winning scripts.
