Too much Abu Ghraib. Too much El Salvador, Darfur, Bosnia, and Rwanda. Too many child soldiers. Too many suicide bombers. Part of what we need to do is invigorate and inspire the higher ideals of the Warrior Archetype. We need to create a whole new aspect of discussion and action based on the classic Warrior ways and weapons, including both its true purpose and its non-violent methods.

Student comments
Much of the training in a new discipline, be it Zen martial arts, screenwriting, or air traffic control, is about un-learning. Too bad we don't have military style boot camps for so many other professions, just to rid the newcomers of all their preconceived notions and harmful habits. MYTHWORKS presents timeless concepts of the Warrior Path made accessible through modern media and a sense of humour and respect.

CIVIC LEADER - OUTREACH PROGRAMS
As a Civic Leader on military Outreach Programs, Pamela has toured destroyers, air craft carriers and air bases, and has witnessed simulated tank warfare in the high desert and mid-air refueling of FA/16 fighter jets.
She has also flown fighter planes and Army tanks -- in simulators. The plane ran out of fuel at 35,000 feet and the tank took a dive off a cliff in the Black Forest.
She had better luck driving an actual M1A1 tank at Fort Knox.
The more you understand a system and its people, the better you can portray it and communicate its principals. If you want to make a Three Kings or a Lord of the Rings, it would behoove you to learn what it takes to be a warrior. As the old adage goes: Write what you know.
If you're interested in participating in some of these programs to learn more about our military, or to research a project, contact your local service branch's Public Relations office.

The Warrior Archetype is a major one for humanity. The more familiarity we all have with it the better we can mold it to the ideals of our societies. The better we mold it to the ideals of our societies the better it serves us. As ideally, it should.

THE WORRY AFTER NEXT

Most cultures have a War God or Goddess. The Greeks have Ares, the war god who loves the mayhem, madness and bloody chaos of battle. They also have Athena, goddess of War-Wisdom-Civilization. Her aspect is the strategic view, the cold-blooded high-minded do-what-needs-to-be-done approach. She goes into battle only when it's necessary to preserve, not to acquire. She takes up the sword to protect, not to ravage. She uses brains over brawn: Athena suggested to Odysseus the idea for the Trojan Horse which ultimately won the ten year long Trojan War.
