CONSCIOUS MEDIA - Part One

What it is? How can you create it?

by Pamela Jaye Smith

Writers Store ezine

05/08/2009

Conscious Media is nothing new.

Initiates of the ancient and modern Mystery Schools have always crafted stories that carry universal truths dressed up in a particular way for a particular time and culture. That's why you can even have such a thing as comparative mythology – there are consistent similarities in stories and characters whether on weathered temple walls, in spiritual disciplines, initiatory systems, the Kabala, Masonry, Mithraicism, mystic Christianity, Tarot, alchemy, etc.

This extant wealth of ancient media does not mean we don't need new Conscious Media creators. Actually, it should reassure you that we need them more than ever these days as things in the real world change so fast.

INDIANA JONES

Still Fun!

Pamela Jaye Smith

Hollywood, CA

06/01/2008

Well, it wasn't as good as the first INDIANA JONES, nor as good as the third one. But the fourth INDY romp does offer up plenty of high-flung adventure and it's well worth seeing in a real movie theatre with a big screen and cell-shaking sound.

Joyce Schwarz's new book

The Vision Board: The Secret to an Extraordinary Llife

Joyce Schwarz's new book was a very pleasant surprise. Too often I find books, workshops, and websites on the topic of visualization light on the Wisdom and heavy on the Magical Thinking that often leads people to expect positive results just from wishing, with no action involved. That often leads to disappointment and disillusionment with the proven creative processes that truly can seem like magic.

Joyce does an excellent job of explaining the "why" and the "how" of positive thinking and action. Her book is a great example of that old adage about not just giving a hungry man a fish but teaching him how to fish. Joyce goes even further – she shows you how to make a fishing rod, how to create effective lures, and where the best fishing spots are depending on what you want to catch.

The Vision Board is a lovely book with rich illustrations, practical suggestions, and inspiring examples from other people's lives. The eclectic range of boards is arranged in categories such as Relationships, Gratitude, Wealth and Well-Being, so no matter what you want to work on at the time, you have guidelines and suggestions from others who have been successful in seeing their own visions come about.

I've known Joyce for many years and have always found her to be generous with her own visions of other's success, brimming with excellent ideas (it would take me months to implement all the great suggestions from a one-hour consultation with Joyce), and always at the forefront of new technologies and cultural phenomena.

Work with Joyce's Vision Board book and you'll be working with the insight and inspiration of a person who really does help others make their dreams come true, with vivid examples from the people living those dreams.
